Some tips on Moving

12/20/2011 10:52:00 AM by The San Antonio Movers

Moving? Not sure where to start? Not sure what to do? Whether you are moving in or moving out, it’s always a good idea to have a good game plan for your move day. Whether you obtain the assistance from a moving company or a moving service, having someone to help you move will be a good idea. If you have friends or family members that are willing to help you move can save you money. If you can afford to hire moving helpers, having a moving company provide the moving labor can save you time and a lot of stress. You will need extra help if you either have a lot of things to pack and unpack, or if you have real heavy items to load and unload. If you seek the assistance of a moving company, some of the initial questions you should ask are about the types of moving services they offer. Make sure the moving company you hire can, and will, adequately provide the moving services you require for your move. Sometimes furniture needs to be disassembled, and reassembled. Sometimes furniture needs to be moved and arranged in the new place you move into. So, make sure the moving helpers will do everything you need for your specific move. If you are renting a moving truck, make sure it’s going to provide enough room to move all your belongings. It’s always better to have a moving truck that is too big, than one that is too small. Then, you won’t have enough room for all your items, or you will have to make several trips. Whether you have a time limit for your move will be a factor on how many trips you want to make on move day. The same goes for moving boxes. Always make sure you have enough boxes for your move. It’s always good to label your moving boxes, especially if you want your moving helpers to be careful with fragile items. Labeling your boxes also helps when you are unloading everything into your new residence. You will have any easier time telling your helpers where to put the boxes, instead of just putting all the boxes in one room, then going through each box individually to figure out where everything goes. This will have save time for your move when it comes time to unpack all your belongings. Also, a good thing to remember is to put the heavier boxes on the bottom and the lighter boxes on the top. You don’t want boxes filled with heaving items, such as books, on top of boxes with light items, such as glasses or picture frames. One last tip: if you have a lot of stuff to move, a dolly will make your move go faster and easier because your helpers will be able to load several boxes at a time, especially heavy boxes. An appliance dolly makes moving appliances and heavy furniture much easier. Always communicate with your movers, before and during your move, to help make your move day a success! Lupe’s Labor and Moving Services

A few years ago I was having trouble obtaining gainful employment. Thus I turned to a temporary employment agency in an attempt to make money and stay busy until I found my next job. I discovered that I really enjoyed working labor intensive work, but working for the temp service was not as enjoyable as I had hoped. So, I began to post ads on craigslist offering my services. The majority of work I obtained had to do with labor and moving. I did all sorts of moving jobs whether it was loading, unloading, packing, or unpacking. I would call on family members and friends when I needed help. We were able to help people moving to, or from, San Antonio. Some people just moved within the city; some people needed help picking up something they had purchased (usually very large and/or heavy); and sometimes people needed help moving something heavy around the house. I have always enjoyed working for myself and being able to set my own schedule. Another benefit of being self-employed was my ability to pick and choose which jobs I wanted to do (the type as well as working around my schedule). I will be honest and admit that I was making more money than I was at the temp service. But, that was my greatest incentive, the fact that I was making more money. I ended up getting acquiring a full time job that enabled me to focus on that job and less on my moving service. However, after a few short months, the owner went bankrupt and we were laid off. I was devastated, but was determined not to return to the temp service. I decided to finish college and was able to do moving jobs around my class schedule. Now that I have graduated with my Bachelors degree I can focus on my moving service full time. I really enjoy working with my hands and I really enjoy doing moving jobs because we get to move big and heavy objects. I have always had a knack for packing and loading by seeing how everything works like a puzzle. I know where to place everything while we help people load during a move. I have learned throughout the years that most people have an easier time moving when they have assistance, especially when it’s from someone who has moving experience. I am hoping to grow my moving business in hopes of continuing to do moving and labor work in lieu of having to work for someone else. Recently, I have encountered two obstacles to my moving service: websites and marketing. I have always known that the smartest method to market my moving service is through a website. However, I do not have much experience building websites or marketing. I have begun an attempt to promote my moving service website through Google because it seems like the smartest avenue to follow. If anyone has thoughts, ideas, suggestions, or input they would like to offer or share on how I can promote and grow my moving service, please feel free to contact me. Also, they say that the best form of advertising is word of mouth. That being said, if you know someone that might need a laborer or mover, feel free to tell them about my services. I am almost always available to offer my labor and moving services here in San Antonio. This is something I wrote about how I started and what I am currently doing with my moving service.
