Looking For Veterinarians?

About Imperial Beach Pet Hospital

Our Services General Services Examinations Our doctors care about the welfare of your pet above all else. They will recommend the best treatment for your pet's condition based on their medical ethics. Our Veterinarians all have over 20 years of experience and use that experience along with the latest in technology to develop a plan to treat your pet. As Imperial Beach Pet Hospital is staff owned, there is no corporate pressure for our doctors to reach monetary goals, they can practice medicine not accounting. Dental Care Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity. Our dentals are conducted under anesthesia with a pre-dental examination with blood work, pain management, ultrasound cleaning, and monitoring. Remember it is against the law for someone to offer Dental Services (beyond brushing the teeth) without a Veterinary License. Spays and Neuters We provide a full service spay or neuter. Our staff will schedule a pre-surgical examination with a Veterinarian to ensure your pet is healthy and ready for surgery. This includes pre-surgical blood work to help ensure your loved one will be able to undergo anesthesia. After passing the pre-surgical examination, your pet will be ready for surgery. On the appointed surgery day, you will drop off your pet (usually between 8-9 am) for their spay/neuter. Just before surgery your pet will be given a sedative and a catheter will be inserted in their leg. During surgery, your loved one will be monitored both by an assistant and a Vetspecs Monitor while under anesthesia. Following the spay/neuter, an assistant will monitor your loved one while she/he comes out from anesthesia. We will call you afterwards (if you have not already called us) about your loved one's status and when she/he will be ready to be picked up. Surgeries Our doctors will conduct routine surgeries in our surgery suite. The surgeries come as a package that includes pre-surgical blood work (if time permits), pain management, anesthesia, and monitoring. If the surgery is complicated, depending on the individual situation, our staff may recommend the services of a specialist (see specialist surgeries). Specialist Surgeries Specialists in the Veterinary field are much like a specialist on the human side. They perform highly sophisticated surgeries on a routine basis and many are board certified in that procedure. With the abundance of specialists in the San Diego Area (and points north if necessary) their cost is highly competitive. They can provide a high quality service at a very competitive price (as compared to what we would have to charge for the same service). While we might lose the lucrative fees for such surgeries, our staff believes your loved one's health is the most important part of the equation, therefore highly recommend the services of specialists. Pain Management Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is the essence of good patient care. Microchipping Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. We offer the most widely used microchip products to increase the chances of a safe recovery. Fully Stocked Pharmacy We stock a wide range of the best veterinary drugs in the animal healthcare field. Radiology Radiology ? or X-rays ? help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular(cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. Ultrasound Ultrasounds are a specialized service that requires special training and constant practice to become and stay proficient. We either bring in an ultrasound specialist or refer to an outpatient ultrasound service (same day service is available). A specialist will be able to interpret the ultrasound study giving a full report, analysis of findings, and appropriate recommendations. Working with the specialist, our doctors can give your loved one the best care possible. Boarding Pets are like our children ? we feed, nurture and lavish attention on them. Our highly qualified veterinary assistants do the same when you can't be there. We provide tender loving care (such as brushing and cuddling), and walks in our fenced back yard to keep them happy and active. Bathing Treat your pet to a luxurious bath. Our special, cleansing baths remove dirt, debris and that doggie pet odor ? your pet will feel fresh and revitalized. If scratching is a problem, our medicated baths contain soothing agents that stop the itching. Services also include a nail trim.
