Patients from Northampton, MA, Easthampton, Hatfield, South Hadley, and Williamsburg come to Dr. Teddi Olszewski because she provides comprehensive dentistry including: - Dental Implants - Dental Crown - Dental Bridge - Dentures - Invisalign - Veneers - Oral Cancer Screening - Soft-Tissue Grafting - Dental Bonding
Invisalign Can Treat: - Overbites - Crossbites - Gapped Teeth - Open Bite - Overcrowding
Veneers are essentially very thin shells of porcelain. Although they are about the thickness of an eggshell, they are incredibly durable, and with proper care, they can last many years. Dr. Olszewski will apply the veneers to the front of your teeth, and they can conceal several cosmetic issues at once. In some cases, they can even serve as “instant orthodontics,” making one or more slightly crooked teeth look straight.
Dr. Olszewski will provide a complete pre-treatment consultation that will allow you to thoroughly explain your goals and concerns, including teeth that are: - Chipped - Cracked - Discolored - Misshapen - Misaligned - Overcrowded & - Gapped
Special needs patients require a gentle approach and specific accommodations in order to ensure their comfort and safety. Dr. Olszewski understands dental anxiety may be an concern, and has worked with patients of all ages who have conditions such as: - Alzheimer’s disease - Parkinson’s disease - Multiple Sclerosis (MS) - Cerebral palsy - Autism spectrum disorders and Asperger’s - Down syndrome - Other mental or physical impairments that make sitting for extended periods of time uncomfortable
If your quality of life is suffering due to tooth loss, we can help you find a solution. Dr. Olszewski offers a number of teeth-replacement options, including: - Dental implants - Implant-supported dentures - Dental bridges - Dentures
Some of the most common conditions that senior dental patients face include: - Dry mouth: A reduction in saliva production can wreak havoc on your oral health. Dry mouth can be a result of certain conditions, such as Sjögren’s syndrome. It can also be caused by radiation cancer treatments. Most often, it is a side effect of a prescription medication. - Root decay: Aging and gum disease can contribute to exposed teeth roots. These surfaces are more susceptible to cavities because there is no enamel protecting them. - Gum disease: This condition can affect patients of all ages, but it is more common in older adults. Infection in the gums can result in myriad dental problems, and can have a significant negative impact on your overall health. - Tooth loss: If decay or gum disease is left untreated, it can lead to eventual tooth loss, which would require significant restorative care. - Tooth movement: If missing teeth are not replaced, the remaining teeth can shift, causing spacing issues and problems with your bite. - Thrush: When the immune system is weakened, you can become more susceptible to the fungus Candida albicans, or thrush. This can occur as a result of certain diseases or from prescription medications.
To properly floss your teeth, you should: - Use an 18-inch piece of floss - Wrap most of the floss around your middle fingers - Hold a portion of the floss tightly between your thumb and forefingers - Gently guide floss between teeth using a rubbing motion - Curve floss into a C-shape once you reach the gum line - Slide floss between the gum and the tooth - Hold the floss tightly against the tooth and rub it against the side - Make sure to clean between all of your teeth and behind the last molar. Then, throw the floss away. If you have difficulties flossing or have a restoration which interferes with proper flossing, our team can recommend other tools or techniques to make the process easier.
Our team can demonstrate the best brushing technique during your regular cleaning and checkup. The ADA recommends that you: - Hold your toothbrush at a 45-degree to your gums - Using short strokes, gently move the brush back and forth over the surfaces of your teeth - Brush all outer, inner, and chewing surfaces of the teeth - To reach the inside surfaces of your front teeth, simply tilt the brush vertically and make several up-and-down strokes. -- - Make sure to brush for the full two minutes, spending an equal amount of time on each section of your smile.
