Appointment Policy: We prefer to see pets by appointment, but walk-in clients are accepted as time allows. Emergency cases will always receive top priority followed by patients with previously scheduled appointments. Upon arrival please check in with the receptionist and give any updated information or paperwork that will help in the care of your pet. Patient Arrival Policy: For your protection, and that of others, all dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area and exam rooms. All cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or on a leash. At Hamilton Veterinary Hospital, we treat your pets like the valued family members they are. Wellness Examination: "Our Wellness Examination for Your Dog and Cat" is done yearly and consisting of an exam of your pets coat for soft or brittle hair which would indicate over all health of your pet, checking skin for sores or irritation and lumps. Listen to the heart and lung for abnormal sounds that would indicate health issues. Check eyes for ulcers or vision impairment. Check teeth and mouth area for dental disease. Feel stomach area for lumps or enlargement of liver and other organs which would indicate health issues. Weight is also monitored so that if an increase or decrease would indicate some health issue that would need to be investigated. Also at this time vaccines would be recommended along with a blood test for Heartworm or Tick diseases such as Lyme disease would be done. After the examination is completed the Doctor will go over the finding of the examination. Recommendation for further testing or procedures would be discussed at this time. **Client Testimonial** On 7/21/12 I unfortunately had to let my best friend, Niki, go. This was the 1st time I ever had to make such a hard decision but the staff at HamiltonVet were so compassionate and caring & they made what was a horrible day more comforting to me and my family. The staff was very friendly and sincere in their condolences. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. X.O.X.O. -Stephanie W.
