Top 10 Buffalo Attractions

Buffalo is the second largest city in New York state. It sits on the edge of Lake Erie and the Niagara River, as well as the border of Ontario, Canada. There are four bridges in the area to cross between the two countries, including the Peace Bridge, which is one of the busiest crossings between the two nations. Known as The Queen City, Buffalo won the All-America City Award twice and was once named the nation's friendliest city by USA Today.

1. Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is the area's largest and most famous attraction. Take a ride to the bottom of the falls on the Maid of the Mist. The best view of the falls is from the Canadian side, so don't forget your passport.

2. Buffalo Zoo

This zoo focuses on both their animals and conservation. Popular attractions include Kali the baby polar bear, the Wonders of Water Children's Zoo and the South American Rainforest.

3. Delaware Park

4. Albright-Knox Art Gallery

Located on the edge of Delaware Park, the gallery is home to works by Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso and Vincent Van Gogh. The grounds contain many interesting sculptures.

5. Fort Niagara

The fort is located where the Niagara river meets Lake Erie. It was established in 1679 and protected the area conflicts such as the War of 1812 and the Civil War. There are tours, reenactments and exhibits that are perfect for history buffs.

6. Niagara Wine Trail

Western New York is wine country. Buffalo has some of the best Pinot Noir, Cabernet and Icewine in the state. The touring trail is just north of Buffalo and has nearly 20 wineries.

7. Frank Lloyd Wright Houses

8. Buffalo Museum of Science

The museum hosts exhibits regarding space, dinosaurs, ancient Egypt, nanotechnology and wildflowers.

9. Anchor Bar

This is where Buffalo wings were invented. Don't leave town without trying the original wings! Also check out the Buffalo Wing Festival in August and the Taste of Buffalo in July.
