Frequently Asked Questions about Pursuit Restoration
Who should I contact first about my property damage issues?
Assuming all immediate safety risks have been taken care of, the FIRST person any property owner should contact in the case of damage is an independent Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) company. WHY NOT MY INSURANCE FIRST? As much as we pay, we’d love to believe our insurance providers would have our best interests at heart. Often, they DO NOT. The adjuster, claim handler, and call taker are all trained to minimize the company's costs. Most often they get compensated through commissions for reducing your estimates. Pursuit Restoration is an independent contractor with NO VENDOR affiliations with any insurance companies.
Do I have to call my insurance immediately?
Although it is helpful to call your insurance company, this does not have to be done immediately. We have IICRC-licensed inspectors who are highly experienced when it comes to getting water and fire damage claims approved! Calling your insurance provider may cause delays or interruptions by answering any questions your insurance may have improperly. We can also identify if the size of the loss is large enough to NEED your insurance. If it is not large, but you contacted your insurance, they still keep record of the calls. This could be a reason for rate increases!
How does the water damage restoration process work?
The first step is to remove all standing water from flooring, wet carpet, and other affected materials. Once all the water is removed, dehumidifiers, air movers, and other specialized equipment are used to dry the affected area. This typically takes 2 to 5 days, depending on but not limited to saturation time, type of materials, and atmospheric conditions. We use moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras to determine when your home is thoroughly dry.
How long should the water cleanup take?
Full restoration consists of two major phases. The first, mitigation, consists of demolition, cleaning, and drying the structure. This phase typically takes 2 to 5 days. In the second phase, repairs can take anywhere from a couple days to 4 weeks, depending on the degree of damage and lead time for materials. Certain materials like cabinets, custom wood, high-end flooring can take extended time to ship. We will work with your insurance provider to get your property back to normal as quickly as possible.
How much does it cost to fix water damage?
The cost of water damage cleanup depends on the size of the flooded area and the amount of time needed to handle the water repair. If your insurance policy covers the water damage, you are only responsible for your deductible. The average water loss is just over $7,000. When properly dried in a timely manner, you can prevent secondary damages or more costly issues, like mold.
