Liberty Tax Service reminds taxpayers that the October 15 deadline is fast-approaching for those who received a six-month extension to file their returns.
“Now is a good time to get your paperwork together and talk to your tax adviser,” said Dan Olivo, Syracuse, NY Franchise Owner.
Nearly 13 million taxpayers requested the six-month extension, according to the IRS, and more than one quarter of those taxpayers have yet to file.
The October 15 deadline applies to most taxpayers, but there are some exceptions. They include those in the military serving in Afghanistan or other combat zones. Those taxpayers have at least 180 days after they leave a combat zone to file returns and pay any taxes due.
