Upon arriving outside of these apartments we saw shattered car window glass, and garbage all over the parking lot. We were very hesitant to go into the building. When we went to the entrance there was a sign on the door (which was broken) that said "contact ... For babysitting 5 dollars/day with the name and apartment number on the posting. When we saw this we immediately wanted to turn around and drive back to where we came from, but didn't hoping that the dirty hallways and ghetto postings on the door didn't speak for the management office and apartments themselves. Boy where we wrong. Upon entering the management office we noticed a small laundry room with a Pepsi machine in it. The machine had a huge hole in the bottom as if someone had kicked it in. When we stepped inside the office the manager greeted us, but the office was small, outdated, and cluttered. While signing papers the managers son and granddaughter came into the office and was sitting at her desk as if everything was normal. There was also a goofy maintenance man in there with us. After signing our lives away to a cramp hole ( unbeknownst to us) the maintenance showed us to our apartment. Walking threw the hallways we noticed more signage on several apartment doors; "don't ask for smokes, I'm not giving them out" -on one door, another said "you can visit but you can't stay, I'm not going to get kicked out because of you." With a number to a shelter on the paper also. When we got to our apartment we noticed brown fingerprint on the walls, and a brown smear right on the side of our apartment entry, that honestly looked like poop smeared on the walls. When we entered the apartment our mouthed dropped. The living room area had tile layer that was scattered different colors, the shelves in the cubbards was broken, and there was a leak in the faucet when we ran the water. When we entered the first room we were disgusted to say the least. In the "closet" area (which had no doors) on the floor in the corner wall was a silver Brillo pad stuffed into a hole. Which indicated to us that the complex was infested with mice, or worse. Every room had cracked different colored tiles. The bathroom was disgusting also, it had an old outdated plastic shower head which was suppose to be white, but was yellow instead. The toilet paper roll holder was under the sink (Which we found very disturbing). The main entry toor had several lock holes, which indicated to us that the previous tenant had 3 or 4 extra locks on the door. (Hmm, wonder why.) and the living room window was broken and easily detachable with no screens. The wall around the ac unit was bubbled and brown. which looked like water damage, the ciling in that same area looked as if it had leaked before and they tried to patch it up.The maintenance man seemed oblivious to the poor and unlivable conditions of the unit. After the move in I section was complete, I went outside to my car and cried. I would have
