How Posting to Connected Platforms Works

When you publish a Live Post, ShowMeLocal sends it to the connected platforms you select. Each platform handles photos, edits, and deletions differently.

Important rules

  • Instagram posts require a photo.
  • Editing a post may cause the original platform post to be removed and replaced with a new post.
  • A replacement post will have a new link and publication time.
  • Instagram posts must be edited or deleted manually on Instagram.
Deleting a post: Deleting a post through ShowMeLocal removes it from ShowMeLocal and connected platforms except Instagram. Instagram posts must be deleted manually on Instagram.

Platform posting rules

ShowMeLocal

ShowMeLocal is the primary location for your Live Posts. Posts can be published, edited, and deleted without additional platform restrictions.

Google Business Profile

New posts are published directly to your Google Business Profile. Existing posts can usually be updated without creating a replacement post.

If Google cannot retrieve a photo, ShowMeLocal automatically retries using a different image location. If the photo still cannot be retrieved, the post may be published without it.

If your authorization has expired, ShowMeLocal will try to refresh it automatically. You may be asked to reconnect your Google account if authorization cannot be restored.

Facebook

Facebook posts can include text and a photo. Text-only posts can usually be edited after publishing.

If a published post includes a photo, editing it causes the original Facebook post to be removed and the revised version to be published as a new post. The new post will have a new link and publication time.

Instagram

Instagram posts require a photo. Posts without a photo will not be published to Instagram.

Published Instagram posts cannot be edited or deleted through ShowMeLocal. Changes and deletions must be completed manually on Instagram.

Threads

Threads supports text posts and posts with a photo.

When a published Threads post is changed, the original post is removed and the revised version is published as a new post. The new post will have a new link and publication time.

Bluesky

Bluesky supports text posts and posts with a photo. Text is limited to 300 characters and may be truncated if it exceeds this limit.

When a published Bluesky post is changed, the original post is removed and the revised version is published as a new post. The new post will have a new link and publication time.

If Bluesky cannot retrieve the photo, ShowMeLocal will retry publishing the post without it.

LinkedIn

When a published LinkedIn post is changed, the original post is removed and the revised version is published as a new post. The new post will have a new link and publication time.

X

Posts on X can include text and a photo. Posting links to X requires the Platinum plan.

When a published X post is changed, the original post is removed and the revised version is published as a new post. The new post will have a new link and publication time.

X may reject consecutive or very similar posts through its anti-spam system. If this happens, adjust the post before trying again or use the Share option to post it manually.

If X reports a permission or authorization error, reconnect and authorize the account again.

If a post does not publish

  1. Confirm that the platform is connected and authorized.
  2. Make sure Instagram posts include a photo.
  3. Check whether the content is identical or very similar to a recent post, particularly on X.
  4. Reconnect the platform if ShowMeLocal reports an authorization or permission error.
  5. Refresh the Live Posts page to review the latest publishing status.
