About Columbia Driving School

Hi, welcome to Columbia Driving School! Ultimately the learning is up to you, but as anybody knows a good instructor can play a key role in your ability to absorb the material. Whether you are a first time driver or someone who has had experience behind the wheel, a teenager or an adult, a scared or a nervous driver, we can help you become a safe and aware driver. Our instructors have the patience and ability to relate to all different types of people no matter what their skill level, experience or learning style may be. We feel that driving is one of the most important skills that someone can have and we really enjoy sharing our knowledge and helping people learn.

How long is each lesson?

All our lessons are 90 minutes long. In 90 minutes, you will have time to learn new skills, practice them, and also have time to review things that we have covered in previous lessons. This will reduce the number of lessons you will need, in turn, lowering the overall cost. With shorter lessons you often have to spend more time reviewing what you did the last lesson instead of learning something new.

How many lessons will you need?

That all depends on you, the student. Some people have had a lot of experience behind the wheel, while others have never had any, but that's ok. Everybody learns differently and at a different pace. We will be able to give you a better estimate of how many lessons you will likely need after our first lesson. You can reduce the number of lessons needed if you practice and reinforce what we have covered with a parent or relative. If you are 16 or older you you can practice with another licensed driver who is at least 21 years of age.

Which type of car will you be learning in?

You will be learning in an automatic, dual-control 2004 Ford Taurus.
