The Perfection Is In The Imperfections, When It Comes To Cowhides
Cows, Wolves, Sheep, Buffalo, etc... They all live very adventurous lives! They get into fights with each, run through thickets, get prodded, get poked, get bitten and get into all sorts of mis adventures.
That means that they have scars, scratches, blemishes and holes. They may even get more from the stretching and tanning process.
Sometimes bald spots are covered with a permanent glue and then hair transplanted.
Holes are permanently patched.
What does this all mean? It means that there are no two cowhides (or any animal hides) exactly alike.
When you buy a cowhide or any hide, be it a zebra, a buffalo, whatever, you are getting something that is unique.
We call them "Character Marks"
Sometimes you can get a hide, like a trophy grade Zebra, that is flawless But then you will pay for it. (like up to $5500 for a trophy grade)
Sheepskins will not be a starch bleach white. Really? Have you ever seen a starched bright white sheep?
No, they are all different, they are all unique, and they are all special.
I have some clients that tell me " The more scars, the better!" They want an authentic"rustic"look.
We live in a world of unnatural perfection, and beauty.
Natural and organically made is the most beautiful to me.
