Fatou African Hair Braiding

So A few months ago I decided to go natural. For those who don't know what that means it means I don't want to get perms anymore. I read a lot of things online as well as watched videos on youtube and a lot of people wear braids/twists with extensions as a protective style. I thought it's summertime and I would be saving myself from a headache by getting medium box braids. I found a place on facebook, looked through the pictures and even went to speak to them on Thursday July 19 2013 to explain that I am going natural and I don't want it tight. The lady assured me that she was the 1 to do it. I go on Friday, July 19th 2013 to get it done. I was pleased with how it looked, but they felt very tight as I was going to sleep that night. I thought with time the tension of the braids would ease up. By the end of 4th day I noticed bumps all around my hair line. I looked closer at the braids in the front and the braids were filled with the bulbs of the hair follicles, which let me know that the braids were ripping my hair out from the root! I figured I gave it 4 days to loosen on it's own which didn't happen so I tried things to loosen them, but nothing worked. I wrote them a facebook message & proceeded to remove the braids. I called the next morning on July 24 2013 and expressed how I am removing the braids and will like my money back. She was calm at first and said just come around 6pm. 15 min. later she called back aggravated and telling me how she's been doing hair for 16yrs and this is the first complaint she has ever got! We get off the phone and I indeed go there around 6pm. I show her the bumps all in my scalp, the pictures of the hair that was coming out as I removed the braids and she had every excuse in the book. She even told me that I got the braids done to go out and now is coming for my money back! She also told me that her assistant had to talk her into doing my hair because I was making ridiculous demands (I asked for the braids not to be tight, the comb being used to be washed and anyone that will be doing my hair to wash their hands first!) I spoke to the owner Fatou on Thursday and Fatou was the person who braided my hair on Friday. No one had to talk her into it she wanted my money! After going back & fourth, her yelling, her insinuating that I was trying to be conniving and deceitful, me threatening to sue her and call the police, I left out with half of my money! I was not going in there trying to get the whole amount, but I didn't feel I should have to pay all that money for that poor poor service! The braids are out, my hair is saved and I will be letting the world know that if you value your hair DON'T GO go to Fatou African Hair Braiding located on 1491 Westchester Ave. Bronx, NY, 10472 between wheeler & elder ave. They don't value their clients hair and yell when you have a valid complaint! I wish I could give ZERO stars!
