About Utah Emergency Medical Training Council

The UEMTC was founded in 1982 as a nonprofit public service organization with the goal to ensure all citizens in Utah were trained to handle medical emergencies. The Training Council developed a program entitled “WHAT TO DO UNTIL THE AMBULANCE ARRIVES” which was offered in every public and private high school in the state of Utah. The pilot school program began in the Granite School District with 1,600 students receiving training during the 1982-83 school year. To date, a total of 387,032 high school students have received this training.

The Mission of the Utah Emergency Medical Training Council is to provide emergency medical training to prepare people for a personal emergency or natural disaster and to advocate for emergency medical training policies that support a well trained citizenry in order to save lives and promote the value of human life. We have been around since 1982 and have trained hundreds of thousands of people in life saving techniques and can count thousands of lives that have been saved because of it.
