We understand why you'd want to, especially if you have an anxious pup, but we do not allow dog parents to observe or participate in services — here's why. Many dog parents feel that their dog is more comfortable with them around or that they can be of help, but the opposite is usually the case. When one of our technicians works with your dog, they do so on an intensive, one-on-one basis to assert calm, secure energy and establish a relationship. If mom or dad is standing right there, your pup will look to you for direction and will not be as responsive when we give commands or maneuver them around as necessary. Most of the time, the parent is more nervous than the dog! And your pup feeds off your anxious energy and body language. The best thing you can do is be a calm and assertive leader — walk in the door holding the leash loosely, shoulders relaxed, and confidently turn them over for their basic hygiene and routine grooming. The health and safety of dogs in our care are our #1 priority; if your pup gets too stressed out, we will take a break or, in extreme cases, stop services entirely.
