Sam Burns run this Nova Uniao affiliate school - classes in Adult BJJ, Kids BJJ, MMA/Striking are offered weekly. Private sessions are also available. A native of Southern Illinois, Sam has over 25 years' experience and passion for fitness and martial arts. He is a Certified Personal Trainer and has been involved in MMA events, competitive powerlifting, Strongman, Crossfit Games and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitions. Sam combines real-world combat experience with over a decade of martial arts training and competition to provide a unique level of instruction to anyone at any level. A veteran of The United States Army (75th Ranger Regt-HHC, 82nd Airborne-3/504/PIR, 1/508th ABCT-SETAF Vicenza, Italy), he currently serves as Boot Camp Officer with the Illinois Department of Corrections. Sam has been instructing self-defense and various martial systems for the last ten years and has been a student of the martial arts since age seven. He holds the rank of Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under the Nova Uniao Team Hawaii flag and is also an instructor for the S.P.E.A.R. System used by many in the Special Operations and S.W.A.T. community to effectively handle dangerous combatants and perpetrators.
