We teach our students how to defend themselves in realistic self-defense situations. In fact, BJJ was developed to allow a smaller person to defeat a larger opponent with a sophisticated blend of leverage and technique. By gaining superior position and applying chokes, holds, locks and joint manipulations, BJJ students can defeat their opponents without having to rely on striking.
