Looking For Podiatrists?

About Elite Podiatry

About Elite Podiatry Elite Podiatry specializes in the treatment of foot and ankle problems. Clinical expertise and diagnostic studies are used to evaluate your condition. Treatments range from medications to physical therapy to orthotics to minor or more advanced surgery. To manage your condition, a treatment plan will be prescribed for you. Whatever your problem, we will work together to determine the care needed to bring you comfort and relief. Podiatry and General Well-Being At Elite Podiatry, we recognize that healthy feet and legs are key to an overall sense of well-being. Our approach to patient care concentrates on foot and leg care while taking into consideration all aspects of the patient's health. We coordinate our patients care with other specialists when their expertise is called for, including dermatologists, orthopedic surgeons, endocrinologists, general practitioners and others. Proper care of the feet and legs is important to health at every age. Elite Podiatry can help with proper foot and leg alignment in young patients, skin and nail care for people of any age, improved athletic performance and recovery from injuries, and the foot and leg problems that arise with aging and diseases such as diabetes. Podiatry Treatments A podiatrist will use a variety of tools, including advanced medical imaging technologies and gait analysis, to aid in the diagnosis of a patient's foot, ankle or leg problems. After diagnosis, a course of treatment will be initiated which might include conservative approaches involving orthotics, physical therapy or trigger point injections. Serious podiatric problems may require surgery. Some medical imaging techniques, such as basic X-rays, have been used for over a century, while others have been developed more recently. A podiatrist will work with radiography technicians, orthopedists and other specialists to decide which techniques to use and to interpret their results. Surgery is usually the last resort for correcting leg and foot problems. A patient should always ask his or her podiatrist to explain any planned procedure, including the use of medical imaging tools, if there are any questions about its usefulness, benefits, or potential risks. By using the right combination of advanced imaging techniques, gait analysis and other diagnostic procedures, the podiatrist can plan the best course of treatment for the patient which will lead to a healthy recovery. Mls Laser Therapy Mls Laser Therapy uses specific wavelengths of light that have a strong anti- inflammatory, anti-edema effect on tissues that are exposed to the laser. Painful conditions accompanied by swelling or inflammation benefit from this technology. Photons of laser energy penetrate deeply into tissue and accelerate cellular reproduction and growth. As a result of exposure to the Mls Laser, the cells of tendons, ligaments and muscles repair themselves faster. As inflammation is reduced, pain subsides very quickly. In simple terms, laser energy kick-starts the healing process, thereby speeding recovery. Unlike some pharmacological solutions, there are no known negative side effects. Laser therapy is cleared by the Fda and is safe and effective Medical Imaging Conventional X-rays are the most basic type of radiography. To generate an X-ray image, a beam of X-rays are streamed at the foot or lower leg. The dense bones absorb most of the X-rays, while soft tissues allow most of them to pass through to the film or digital receiver behind the patient's leg. A podiatrist can use basic X-ray images to diagnose bone fractures and other conditions that primarily affect the bones. Other techniques must be used to fully evaluate soft tissue problems not involving the bones. Ultrasound imaging, also called sonography, uses high frequency sound waves rather than electromagnetic radiation to generate images of the feet and lower legs. Ultrasound imaging can help to diagnose problems with muscles and other soft tissues. Images can be recorded in real-time to help with diagnosing joint alignment problems. Computed Tomography, or CT scans, use multiple X-ray images to create cross-sectional images and 3-dimensional images. CT scans are frequently used for full-body scanning, but they can also be used for scanning smaller areas like the feet and lower legs. CT technology is useful to podiatrists when simple X-rays do not provide the level of detail needed for accurate diagnosis and treatments. Mri, or magnetic resonance imaging, uses images generated by magnets and radio waves to examine the feet and lower legs. Mri technology can differentiate between different tissue types and shows ligaments and tendons better than other imaging techniques, so it is very useful in diagnosing problems with the ankle joint and tendons joining the bones of the feet together. Mri images can also help to identify cysts and tumors in the bones and soft tissues of the feet and lower legs. Gait Analysis / Orthotics For chronic lower leg and foot pain, the podiatrist may use gait analysis to determine whether misaligned bones and joints during walking or other exercise may be causing the problem. A patient will walk or run on a treadmill while his movement is being recorded and analyzed. The doctor may recommend orthotics (specially crafted shoe inserts), special shoes, or physical therapy to try to correct any gait problems that are identified in the gait analysis. Trigger point injections Trigger point injections are often useful for reducing or eliminating persistent heel or foot pain due to plantar fasciitis or heel spurs, as well as for other muscle pain problems. These injections involve treating a targeted area of the joint or muscle with mild steroids using a small needle. Sometimes dry needle techniques are effective if a patient has an allergy to the drugs normally used in trigger point injections. Fees & Insurance We participate in many health plans including Care Credit Card and Medicare. To minimize billing costs, co-pays, deductibles, and non-covered services are payable at the time of services. Cash, checks & credit cards are accepted.
