"i ended up hiring custom metal to repair my gate after searching the internet for a local company. i paid the deposit and scheduled the work to be performed on a friday. on friday they called to tell me they would be unable to make it until the next day. as i had already given them a deposit, i agreed to wait. they did arrive promptly the next morning, and were very pleasant, but unfortunately, the work they performed was of such poor quality that the gate is hanging again and cannot be closed. i called to tell them about it, and did not receive a return call. i called again, and the person who answers the phone there said he would have the proprietor take a look at my gate. again, nobody called me back. when i called the third time, i was informed that the proprietor had looked at my gate and determined that someone had "opened it incorrectly" which was the cause of the problem, and that he "would be calling me to give me an estimate". i was outraged, as clearly the problem was the shoddy work custom metal performed, but i decided to wait for the proprietor to return my call so i could discuss directly with him. i even called again and left another message, and i am still waiting to hear back from them! nobody even had the courtesy to return my call, and the fact that i already paid them to fix a problem and they wanted to charge me again is unacceptable. in the meantime, i called another iron work company, and when the welder arrived at my house he was appalled by the poor quality of the "repair" that custom metal had performed, and asked me incredulously if i had a professional do the work or some guy off the street. as i am not an expert, i trusted that custom metal had done a good job since i could close my gate, but i did not look closely enough to see their sloppy work. i feel absolutely disappointed in custom metal and would NOT recommend them to anyone."
