My Brother's Place

Brothers Mike Javernick and Jim Embelton purchased Tammy's Restaurant in 1981 to open their own bar. They re-named it My Brother's Place after a ficticious bar that Mike saw in a beer commercial. In 1986 the brothers purchased the old movie theater across the street and with the help of bar patrons for the price of a mason jar of beer, moved the bar plank by plank. After Jim moved to California, Mike operated the bar successfully for over 25 years. Alan and Dawn Schmittel purchased the bar in 2008 and have taken the business to new heights. Alan and Dawn have added live music and comedy shows to the entertainment, daily specials, sports on any one of the many televisions located in the bar and they have made the bar a local hot spot for many of the city's tourists and life long residents
