I broke down on the Long Island Expressway and the tow truck operator suggested I have the car towed to this facility because it was the closest. I blew a radiator hose which caused the engine to overheat excessively - the engine died. I thought I blew the head gasket so I had the car towed. The placed was clean, orderly and friendly. I decided to leave the car and also asked them to check the clutch master cylinder because I just replaced the slave but the pedal was still "soft". To make a long story short: the cost of checking the "check engine" light, adding 2 gallons of antifreeze, replacing 6 spark plugs (claimed they melted - the cause of the check engine light) and replacing the master cylinder for the clutch was a WHOPPING $1400. Every part price was tripled from retail...ie $30 per plug, a master cylinder $272. thermostat $56. Antifreeze $30. $100 to install the thermostat. $270 to install the plugs, and $170 to install the master cylinder. Then I was "nickel and dimed" for everything else.....$5.25 for "brake cleaner" what?? - even if you had to clean something, I shouldn't be charged for the entire bottle. I was charged $7.50 to "top off all fluids" meanwhile charge separately for each fluid...(brake fluid 10.50, antifreeze $30) I know my tranny and power steering fluid were fine as I check them myself.....The ONLY reasonable charge was a $20 oil change....maybe they were starting to feel guilty, I don't know. I realize every business is entitled to a profit but boy was I taken for a ride.
