brought in my semi-dead hp laptop (blue lights, some whirring, but no display) on a sunday afternoon. was diagnosed as a display chip problem (something they've seen often on hp dv series) within 5 min at the counter and got it back completely fixed by tuesday afternoon! very helpful, sincere, and speedy!

Two weeks after getting my laptop repaired here my screen went out again. So automatically change the rating to one star? Well I figure this was a good opportunity to test their 90 day warranty so I called and explained my problem The employee I talked to said to just bring it in again. He said it's happened with other customers and have gone as far as repairing a laptop 4-5 times before just refunding the customer's money. I think it speaks volumes they are willing to back up their work with a 90 day warranty and eventually refund the customer's money if they can't get it right. Not their fault of course, I blame HP for making a poor quality product.

Thank God for Bay Area Computerman. When my tablet's DC power jack went bad, I looked all over for someone who could fix it. No one in San Jose seems to know how to use a soldering iron. They all wanted to ship my laptop off somewhere else for a week or two. Almost all these remote repair sites were staffed by people who wouldn't touch the computer until I signed a sheet giving them permission to re image my hard drive. That's because amateur computer techs can solve any problem by replacing the mother board and re imaging the hard drive. That's like a doctor prescribing brain surgery for everyone who comes in with a headache.

Bay Area Computerman has actual technicians on site who know how to diagnose computer hardware. They found the one chip in my computer that was fried and replaced it without touching the rest of the system. It only cost $150 and took them just 3 days. All my software and files were left intact.

This place is 100% SCAM and RIP OFF. They promised to fix my laptop within 3-7 business days, and it took 31 days to fix it, they said they did order a parts from china for my SONY laptop very popular model. Whats going on: we live in US, we can order anything and get delivered next day or at least within a week max. They are very rude and not polite at all, when I asked about discount for huge delay, MANAGER SAID: LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED LAPTOP OR NOT? It means if I dont pay, they sell my laptop. AVOID THIS PLACE.
