My black lab Phoebe is no different even if I have been gone 10 minutes. If I come into the clinic after hours to catch up on paperwork, our clinic cat Noah jumps onto the computer key board as if to say, pay attention to me first. They have a very short life span (10 to 15 years), and we watch them got through all the life changes from puppies or kittens to geriatrics as what seems like an accelerated pace.
