1. Birmingham Museum of Art

This museum was created in 1951, and it features over 24,000 pieces of art. The Birmingham Museum of Art has 12 permanent collections, and its Asian art collection is considered to be one of the best in the country.

2. Birmingham Civil Rights Institute

Birmingham was one of the most crucial cities in the Civil Rights Movement, and every major event is depicted in this amazing museum.

3. McWane Science Center

The interactive science exhibits, IMAX theater, aquarium and artifact collection found at the McWane Science Center make it a perfect attraction for the whole family.

4. Vulcan Statue

The 56-foot tall cast iron statue of Vulcan is one of the most iconic landmarks of Birmingham, Alabama.

5. Birmingham Zoo

This zoo was founded in 1955, and it currently features over 800 different animals. The Birmingham Zoo is best known for its Trails of Africa exhibit.

8. Birmingham Barons

Every sports fan in the area has to check out a Birmingham Barons baseball game. The team plays at Regions Field, and are the AA minor league affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.

9. Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame

Birmingham has a long history with jazz and there is no better way to experience the great music genre than this museum. The museum honors the best jazz musicians in the area, offers free classes and holds several festivals throughout the year.

10. The Summit

Anyone looking to unwind with some shopping has to visit The Summit, which is a lifestyle center that houses 97 stores. The Summit is the home to the best retail stores and restaurants in Birmingham.
