"First things first…..If I could give MJ Fence Company a zero star rating I would but I have to give at least 1 star to voice my displeasure with them. It’s disgusting.
I have been ill for the last 7 years with 12 operations due to multiple infections from knee replacements. I have been absolutely exhausted. All of this resulted in a leg amputation this past May. Last year we decided to get a new fence installed since our old one was such an eyesore & offered no privacy. We had numerous estimates but chose Mike of MJ Fence due to price, product promised, high quality installation promised, local small business plus Mikes outgoing personality.
What a mistake!! My wife and I saw to it that he and his buddy were fed and had something to drink at all times. I sat on my back porch through most of the install but I didn't watch much because I was so exhausted, couldn't keep awake & didn’t believe in hovering over a working man. When the fence was done, I paid him even though the fence looked bad because he was coming back to make it right. I believed him. He wouldn’t lie to us! There were many problems with his installation such as: Boards too close to the ground (need to be 2" above ground soil), boards too far away from the ground, uneven installation of boards (crooked), fencing posts not plumb (not straight up & down), huge knot holes popping like crazy, he used wood that wouldn't pass for crate wood (junk), cut off fence posts too short to put caps on the ends, boards are popping off like crazy, warping is unbelievable, nails popping like popcorn, they left nails & pieces of wood all over the place that my wife had to clean up and used the wrong type/size nails? because they are just not holding in the wood. My 4 year old grandson could have done a better job! As he was leaving Mike said he would come back and take care of the problems & did replace a few boards in the fall. He said he wanted to come back in the spring & repair all the problems at once. In April, whenever I called him, he kept pushing back the date of repair due to one reason or another. He had a multitude of excuses for not coming back to make the job right. He finally came back to our house & brought some other boards to choose from and a sample of another style of fencing that he thought would be better. We chose to have 5/4” red cedar installed and agreed to pay the difference in price for the wood. No problem. All was good. Right? Wrong!! He said he would be installing the new wood as soon as it was ordered & picked up. Whenever we could get him to return a phone call, he kept inquiring when I was going into the hospital for my surgery. I told him it would be the 17th of May. Those promises to repair the fence were just empty promises & lasted until I had my surgery. Then he sent me a letter that said he would not replace the fencing because wood was wood & could not be guaranteed but he would be willing to replace it w"
