Founded in 1837, much of Atlanta was burned to the ground during the Civil war. However, railroads, as well as other business and civic organizations, were significant in its rebirth. Atlanta, Georgia is now noted for its incredible sense of southern spirit and vivacity. Visitors, whether they are business people, singles, or families will find something of interest to enjoy.

Atlanta had the honor of hosting the 1996 Centennial Olympic games. Now, this 21-acre park provides community wide events. Every year visitors will be in awe at the Fourth of July Celebrations. On Wednesdays, visitors can celebrate the midway point of the workweek at Wednesday Wind Down concert series. Families and visitors can enjoy themselves at Fourth Saturday Family Fun Days.

Many visitors to Atlanta will find entertainment at venues hosted at downtown Atlanta's Georgia World Congress Center. It features a 3.9 million square-foot convention center. International trade shows and outdoor concerts are a few of its offerings. Included at the center is also the 71, 250 seat Georgia Dome, home of the Atlanta Falcons football team. Centennial Park is also on the grounds of Georgia World Congress Center.

The CNN news network provides a unique opportunity. Visitors to the area can tour a re-creation of CNN's main control room. This provides an unparalleled behind the scenes look at the stations 24-hour news broadcasts. There are also interactive exhibits of the top 100 news stories covered by CNN over the last 20 years.

The Georgia Aquarium is one of Atlanta's top attractions. With 8.1 million gallons, it is the world's largest aquarium. It features a 100-foot-long glass tunnel that allows visitors to experience undersea life in a way no other aquarium has attempted. The breathtaking aquatic displays include River Scout exhibit, Coldwater Quest exhibit, and Ocean Voyager exhibit.

The Atlanta Botanical Garden also offers some breathtaking sights, and the beautiful flora offers delightful experiences for the other senses as well. The Botanical Gardens feature an edible garden, a rose garden, a dwarf and rare conifer collection, among many other special garden sections. The seasonal collections of beautiful and exotic species and other special exhibits will please visitors.

Visitors to the Fernbank Science center enjoy the number of events and exhibits at the center. The live animals exhibit includes poison dart frogs, snakes, turtles, spiders, and more. On site exhibits also include a planetarium, a meteorology lab, and an aerospace lab.

The High Museum of Art features wonderful, permanent collections of fine art. Displays at the museum include Modern and Contemporary art, American, European, African, and folk art. Photography and Decorative Arts and Design collections are available for viewing. The High Museum of Art also features some more eclectic collections such as an exhibit that highlights the automobile as a work of art.

The two-story birthplace of the world-renowned civil rights icon Martin Luther King, Jr. is located in the Sweet Auburn community, once a thriving African-American community. Park rangers provide tours for interested visitors. However, they are limited to 15 people, and they are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Coca-Cola is internationally known, and visitors to Pemberton Place will have an opportunity to experience the World of Coca-Cola. A 4-D movie theater with moving seats and taste testing more than 60 different products from around the world are a few areas that visitors might find interesting. An active Coca-Cola bottling line is on the premises. Covering 60,000 square feet of exhibit and with more than 1,200 artifacts, Coca-Cola fans will surely get their fill.

For children, and those who want to indulge their inner child, LEGOLAND is a must see. LEGOLAND has a variety of rides and attractions. Many of Atlanta area landmarks, made out of Legos are on display. An onsite Lego factory is available for tours, a Lego city of more than 1.5 million Lego pieces is available for viewing, and there are many other interactive activities for kids and grownups alike.

For those looking to end the day with an evening out will find many choice offering provided by the Fox Theater. Movies, music, dance, drama-all are provided at the Fox Theater, but it also is historically fascinating. The lavish theater opened during the Great Depression. As a Georgia Museum Building and National Historic Landmark, the Fox Theater has earned the highest and most prestigious historical rankings.

When visitors leave for home, it is quite possible they will receive the traditional southern "Ya'll come back now." With all that Atlanta has to offer, there is no doubt they will.
