Top 10 Los Angeles Attractions

The second largest city in the United States, Los Angeles sprawls out over a sizable section of Southern California. The sprawling city limits of LA contain a multitude of different attractions to suit a wide variety of tastes and interests. In fact, there is so much to see in LA that it is often difficult for visitors to decide what to do within the limited time that most vacations allow. However, there are certainly a few "must-see" attractions in Los Angeles. These are ten of the area's top sights.

The Santa Monica Pier

The Santa Monica Pier not only affords fantastic beach-going, but is also home to several charmingly old-fashioned amusements, including an early 1920s carousel, Ferris wheel, and roller coaster. You will also find numerous restaurants and souvenir shops to make the trek to Santa Monica worthwhile.

Beverly Hills

Some things do not change, and Beverly Hills is still the place to go for some of the city's most upscale shopping and dining on Rodeo Drive, and for spotting some of the area's most famous citizens going about their daily lives.

Universal Studios

Universal Studios Hollywood is easily accessible and full of wonderful activities for movie fans, including iconic sets and exciting rides.

The Griffith Observatory

This famous 1930s Art Deco structure now hosts a planetarium show, but the telescope is still open to the public, weather permitting.

Hollywood Walk of Fame

It may be a cliche, but no trip to LA is complete without a visit to these literally star-studded 15 block along Hollywood Boulevard.

TCL Chinese Theatre

While you are on Hollywood Boulevard, you should not miss a look at the city's most famous movie palace, which now contains the world's largest IMAX auditorium.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art

Art fans would be remiss to miss out on this monumental collection of more than 100,000 works of art of all kinds. The museum is free for visitors under 17, and free for everybody on certain holidays.

Venice Beach

Venice Beach is like a microcosm of the entire region's beach culture, and an ideal place to pick up an idiosyncratic souvenir and/or see a slew of local characters.

Disneyland

This Anaheim landmark may be one of the older theme parks in the country, but it is still one of the best - there is a reason that tourists still flock to the Magic Kingdom in droves.

Mulholland Drive

The drive is not for the faint-hearted, but on a clear day this narrow path through the Santa Monica Mountains provides spectacular views of the San Fernando Valley and more.
