We moved our lawyer's office with 10 employees furniture, file cabinets, executive desks, lots of wardrobes for personal clothes and boxes with pretty much heavy items like our treadmill, desks, few sculptures, paintings, lots of stuff, and we were recommended to call these local NYC movers by our lendlord he used to hire these guys a few times already for the tenants' moves and already has Certificate of insurance done for the biuilding few times before, so we hired them and they were really fast, it took them less than 6 hours instead of the whole day we were expected to spend for this relocation. Fast, prompt, with good Customer service, the move was absolutely stress-free experience. They gave us free boxes and packed our flat screen TVs for free, and it was a rally good move. This was a corporate paid move from Manhattan, NY to Baltimore, MD on April 30th of this year. We set everything up through Harold on April 15th and went over an inventory list and compared our in home estimates to that list and tweaked it over the next few days. Their quote was a little higher than one of the estimates and considerably lower than the other. We did not compile quotes from any other companies just the 3 mentioned and were pleased with all 3 companies level of service but chose New York City Best Movers Manhattan Moving Company (646) 652-6479 based on reviews on this website and we also spoke with one of the owners, Jack D. who was pleasant and really walked us through every question one might have pertaining to moving. After the conversation with Jack we placed our deposit and set the dates. May 29th or 30th with a preferred date of the 30th. Several days before the move we received a confirmation call from Mitch in the customer care department letting us know that their crew would in fact arrive on the 30th in Manhattan, NY to pack and prep what they could and since it was a 3 man crew the entire process would most likely be done in 1 day. Nate called the day before on the 29th and confirmed he would be there between 8am and 9am the next morning. They showed up a little earlier at 7:45 and did their thing like we couldn't believe and honestly had everything packed and loaded in 7 hours and it was a big shipment. They delivered 4 days later and absolutely nothing was damaged and looked like it had not even been moved at all. These guys are experts in every fashion and when Tim called to ask if we could post our review on their company, we couldn't off been happier to do it. Highly, highly recommended.

We were given New York City Best Movers Manhattan Moving Company information from our neice that moved with them last winter and she had raved about them and we figured no better referal than family. We arranged to have our house packed up and moved on July 26th. Ian, Andrew and Mark came on the 26th at 8am and began working almost immediately, writing down every piece and stickering every box, they put sticky plastic floor covering down on our carpets, cardboard and padding on our hardwood flooring. These 3 men did not stop for a second until everything was wrapped, marked, and loaded which took about 5 hours. After the packing was finished, they picked up our things from Manhattan Mini Storage and delivered everything to Selden, Long Island. They unwrapped everything and it was all intact and in the same condition as it went into their truck. In our opinion, we couldn't have chosen a better more professional company. Our final price including the packing was $3,511.00 which was $290.00 less than the estimate, and we tipped the Ian $500.00 for the job well done. If we ever have to move again, we will be using New York City Best Movers Manhattan Moving Company and will pass on the good word about them and how they operate!

"They operate a scam, they rip you off and try to get extra money from you when they deliver your goods. i would call that kidnapping . not only did they charge me overweight for my move, when i questioned the weight and requested a reweigh they started to redirect the driver to every area but mine. they overcharged almost 1000 lbs from what i knew was my weight. they also have a partner in budget movers who was the broker on this deal. see my rating for them my real rating would be 0. i think that most of these ratings are false. i can not believe that there are this many people who actually these guys are legit. they have been reported to the Dept of Transportation for deceptive practices"

On the day of the move we had to go for closing and we were absent for the day. I only explain what is going and that our stuff have to be out in 3 hours. Everything was under pressure but they took care for our furniture as they promise and we were able to focus only on the paper work. Very professional nothing was damaged. we were robbed by these thieves! they have no listing with the BBB so it's not possible to file a complaint with them. just had to add to my old review of July 2008 (see below) because we are moving back to Long Beach and i asked my husband how much the disaster of a move cost us when we moved here July 1, 2008. Are you ready? - $3,800. they had all our stuff loaded on the truck and they hit us with this news! we had no choice if we wanted our furniture! have learned what they do is load the truck with stuff to add weight then take it out after to inflate the total to "justify" the cost! We had a sleeper sofa, stack w/d, iron & brass bed, mattress & b/spring, 2 folding screens, bookcase and antique cabinet - that's all the furniture. Many boxes & clothes and about 8 large picture boxes. THAT'S IT! Today was given an estimate today ( May 18, 2010) by Cunningham Movers in writing with all costs including 14 boxes and labor to move back to Long Beach -same distance as when we came here to SF- and estimate is $2,163. ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW: 7/28/2008 DO NO USE THEM. i have never had any moving company as bad as this one and i've moved more times than i can count. once cross country from MI to CA and stuff was in storage for 7 months and no problem. THIS MOVE WITH S.M WAS HORRIBLE! They charged way more than quoted from Long Beach CA to San Francisco and they broke the base to a $1,200 coffee table that had been through 9 moves before (yes one from MI to CA) and never a problem until this time. It was wrapped by the movers, which they charged me for (a wooden base that supports a glass top/brass trim tray top) and because it was in a box -has never been boxed before, but they insisted- it was placed in the truck and heavy boxes and other items were stacked on top of it. When i opened the box the day we moved the base was in pieces and damaged beyond repair. The mover in San Francisco said it should have never been put in a box and wrapped like that. I was given an ridiculous settlement amount and paid $155 for arbitration which decided against me because they upheld the $.60 a pound settlement offered by Super Movers. Avoid this company! Pros: NONE Cons: CHEATS

"I used New York City Best Movers Manhattan Moving Company to move my 3 bedr 2 bath house from West New York NJ to Brooklyn 2 years ago. That was my first move in my live. The movers were very very RUDE to me, and NOT careful to my belongings. This July I called this moving company with my parents to give us back the money of all those broken furniture - they said they will send us the money - we are calling them , of course ignoring our phone calls . Everything was NOT smooth. ALL THE HIDDEN charges and surprises. O...and also.... I had a HORRIBLE MOVE WITH YOUR COMPANY I will always remember you for the HORRIBLE move you did - I wanted to take a minute to express how MAD I was with the service I received from this HOORIBLE Movers , I called the 800-number looking for a small move to be made to a vacation home within a few days. Erika took all my info and assured me he would be able to help out. She was NOT friendly and NOT helpful at ALL {I should never reserve my move -}. She gave me a price quote and explained what I should ask about if I was going to shop around. I explained that the date was not definite because we were waiting on a certificate of occupancy. She told me not to worry – I guess she was making fun of me; she would work it out if I had to switch dates. I was going to shop your price but quite frankly Erika was NOT accommodating and NOT helpful. I decided just to go with your company. I inevitably had to cancel my date and put my move on hold. When I was ready Erika did not quickly rescheduled the move. My new date was set for Wednesday, and I called on Friday to see if I could change the time because I did not realize if I started at my home between 2 and 4 I would be home too late on a school night for my children. Erika was not there but whoever answered the phone said NO PROBLEM, We will do it – that was a lie – this guy was just trying to get a other call. "The company's movers are Professionals. They were recommended by friends who used them a few times. This team of movers was simply incredible, and very reasonably priced. They moved me, in very short notice. They accomplished things I would have thought impossible- squeezed couches through tiny narrow spaces where other movers would have definitely given up. They were prompt, accommodating, great guys, and strong. Very pleasant to work with, 5 stars!"

"Considering that we had never moved over 10 miles before outside of New York City, we were terrified especially after reading and hearing terrible stories of moving company tactics and bait & switch operations causing unsuspecting customers 2, 3 or 4 times their estimates. We were given New York City Best Movers Manhattan Moving Company information from our neice that moved with them last winter and she had raved about them and we figured no better referal than family. We arranged to have our house packed up and moved on July 26th. Ian, Andrew and Mark came on the 26th at 8am and began working almost immediately, writing down every piece and stickering every box, they put sticky plastic floor covering down on our carpets, cardboard and padding on our hardwood flooring. These 3 men did not stop for a second until everything was wrapped, marked, and loaded which took about 5 hours. After the packing was finished, they picked up our things from Manhattan Mini Storage and delivered everything to Selden, Long Island. They unwrapped everything and it was all intact and in the same condition as it went into their truck. In our opinion, we couldn't have chosen a better more professional company. Our final price including the packing was $3,511.00 which was $290.00 less than the estimate, and we tipped the Ian $500.00 for the job well done. If we ever have to move again, we will be using New York City Best Movers Manhattan Moving Company and will pass on the good word about them and how they operate."

They are professional, responsive, efficient, punctual, friendly and the price is right. Tom and his team of movers were able to move furniture from two locations into my new apartment in New York City within 4 ½ hours. They are extremely knowledgeable of NYC. And more importantly, they are very knowledgeable about how to care for and protect furniture. They paid extra attention to the small details and I felt totally confident in their services. I used New York City Best Movers Manhattan Moving Company to move my 3 bedr 2 bath house from West New York NJ to Brooklyn 2 years ago. That was my first move in my live. The movers were very very nice to me, and so careful to my belongings. This July I called this moving company for my parents move from Miami to New York City. Everything went so smooth. "had a HORRIBLE MOVE WITH YOUR COMPANY I will always remember you for the HORRIBLE move you did - I wanted to take a minute to express how MAD I was with the service I received from this HOORIBLE Movers , I called the 800-number looking for a small move to be made to a vacation home within a few days. Erika took all my info and assured me he would be able to help out. She was NOT friendly and NOT helpful at ALL {I should never reserve my move -}. She gave me a price quote and explained what I should ask about if I was going to shop around. I explained that the date was not definite because we were waiting on a certificate of occupancy. She told me not to worry – I guess she was making fun of me; she would work it out if I had to switch dates. I was going to shop your price but quite frankly Erika was NOT accommodating and NOT helpful. I decided just to go with your company. I inevitably had to cancel my date and put my move on hold. When I was ready Erika did not quickly rescheduled the move. My new date was set for Wednesday, and I called on Friday to see if I could change the time because I did not realize if I started at my home between 2 and 4 I would be home too late on a school night for my children. Erika was not there but whoever answered the phone said NO PROBLEM, We will do it – that was a lie – this guy was just trying to get a other call. "NYC Moving Manhattan Movers did not work hard work at ALL and NOT dedication to get my relocation done according to my needs. I placed very rigourous demands on my move and from the office staff to the crew were NOT good 7 very rude . But we saw great reviews on them everywhere, so we decided to give it a try but we were WRONG because I guess all those GOOD REVIEWS WAS WRITTEN BY THIS COMPANY. We were EXTREMELY WRONG, our moving experience was HORRIBLE. They came one day to complete the packing 3 HOURS LATE, and then came the following day to complete the move after waiting for 5 hours before the crew arrive. It was undoubtedly our most HORRIBLE moving experience ever. They did damage EVERYTHING (including crystal glasses, heavy furniture, etc.). And they did ding ALL our walls and doors. Every member of their team was NOT friendly and NOT polite. And they work super SLOW! When they were unloading our furniture, they would literally DROPPING OUR FURNITURES ON THE FLOOR. I have no idea where they find all the energy. Not only do they provide THE WORST moving service, THEY DEMANDED A BIG TIP after this HOORIBLE MOVE, namely the New York WORST Movers!"

"After doing my homework and checking out at least 13 different movers and quotes. i called New York WORST Movers , I WAS BLIND WITH THOSE REVIEWS , I find out later that they all was written by they SCAM MOVERS I was a easy customer! this was a cross country move for my brother in law who is elderly and just lost his wife. i wanted to make sure we made the right choice! Not only did New York WORST MOVERS coast us thousands of dollars more . They were NOT kind and NOT sympathetic to our needs. The movers were not fantastic, NOT careful and NOT efficient!
