DO NOT...I repeat DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY. This company was actually referred to me by a co-worker, but after my move, found out co-worker only had boxes to move.

LET ME SAY THAT I ONLY HAD 6 ITEMS TO BE MOVED.
1- oak bookcase
2/3 bed frame (head and foot board) (2 items)
4- night stand
5- dresser
6- chair

Items 2,3,4 are brand new, less than a 1 year old.

Ok...so first off the email from company said "What is included:
-ALL taxes and insurances
-ALL moving services
-Fuel and road expenses
-Blankets for wrapping your furniture
-10 book boxes
- 2 wardrobes for rent
-up to 45 days FREE storage
What is NOT included:
-Tape
-Bubble or shrink wrap
-Additional boxes
We have 3 hours minimum ,included 1 hour travel time"

P.S. We don't have ANY complains from our customers about any scratches, damages or overcharges for last 39 months

When they walked in the door, they told me I had to pay 10% fuel charge. I questioned it, then thought "I just want to get it over with" then he asked me if I wanted any packing material and gave me a quote on the price...I felt they were just trying to nickel and dime me, so I said "no".

REMEMBER I ONLY HAD 6 ITEMS TO BE MOVED!

When moving:

item #1 - BOOKCASE - I see that the guy pick sup the book case andgoes outside...(I live on the 3rd floors, outside cement stairs, and no elevator. I hear this SCRAPPING Noise. I look outside and the guy is DRAGGING my bookcase down the cement stairs. So I say "Hey" The guy looks at me and says "oh scratches, so sorry" then picks the bookcase up and carries it the rest of the way.

REMEMBER I ONLY HAD 6 ITEMS TO BE MOVED!

item #2/3 - BEDFRAME (head and foot board) - the guys pick up the footboard to move it...and I say "I do not want any scratches" The guy says" I will need to wrap it" I said "ok". So he and his co-worker proceed to wrap the bedframe with their furniture pads...saying that they normally charge, but he would do it at "no charge".

item #4 - NIGHT STAND - same as #2

Item #5 - DRESSER - same as #3

Item #6 - CHAIR - hard a previous tear in fabric.

The whole time the guys are preparing my furniture for moving, the one guy keep asking me personal questions, like if I live alone, do I have a boyfriend, girlfriend. Who do I live with...blah, blah, blah. I told he was asking pretty personal quesitons...and it wasn't appropriate.

So now the actual move to the new house, which is 6 miles from the old house.

Item #1 - BOOKCASE - moved ok.

item #2/3 - BEDFRAME -when the guys set up my bed...I noticed cracks on one side of the FOOTBOARD...and cracks on the same side of the HEADBOARD. The crack in Headboard is all the way through the wood. The crack in the Footboard is only partially through the wood. None the less, it is still damaged.

item #4 -NIGHT STAND - top drawer support is broken.

They operate a scam, they rip you off and try to get extra money from you when they deliver your goods. i would call that kidnapping . not only did they charge me overweight for my move, when i questioned the weight and requested a reweigh they started to redirect the driver to every area but mine. they overcharged almost 1000 lbs from what i knew was my weight. they also have a partner in budget movers who was the broker on this deal. see my rating for them my real rating would be 0. i think that most of these ratings are false. i can not believe that there are this many people who actually these guys are legit. they have been reported to the Dept of Transportation for deceptive practices

we were robbed by these thieves! they have no listing with the BBB so it's not possible to file a complaint with them. just had to add to my old review of July 2008 (see below) because we are moving back to Long Beach and i asked my husband how much the disaster of a move cost us when we moved here July 1, 2008. Are you ready? - $3,800. they had all our stuff loaded on the truck and they hit us with this news! we had no choice if we wanted our furniture! have learned what they do is load the truck with stuff to add weight then take it out after to inflate the total to "justify" the cost! We had a sleeper sofa, stack w/d, iron & brass bed, mattress & b/spring, 2 folding screens, bookcase and antique cabinet - that's all the furniture. Many boxes & clothes and about 8 large picture boxes. THAT'S IT! Today was given an estimate today ( May 18, 2010) by Cunningham Movers in writing with all costs including 14 boxes and labor to move back to Long Beach -same distance as when we came here to SF- and estimate is $2,163. ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW: 7/28/2008 DO NO USE THEM. i have never had any moving company as bad as this one and i've moved more times than i can count. once cross country from MI to CA and stuff was in storage for 7 months and no problem. THIS MOVE WITH S.M WAS HORRIBLE! They charged way more than quoted from Long Beach CA to San Francisco and they broke the base to a $1,200 coffee table that had been through 9 moves before (yes one from MI to CA) and never a problem until this time. It was wrapped by the movers, which they charged me for (a wooden base that supports a glass top/brass trim tray top) and because it was in a box -has never been boxed before, but they insisted- it was placed in the truck and heavy boxes and other items were stacked on top of it. When i opened the box the day we moved the base was in pieces and damaged beyond repair. The mover in San Francisco said it should have never been put in a box and wrapped like that. I was given an ridiculous settlement amount and paid $155 for arbitrate

It was my third time moving in last two years. This time I was moving from Alexandria VA with one stop in Arlington to Bethesda. Alex the guy from their Customer service was wonderful during our communication over the phone, answered all my questions about the price and moving service, and gave me all the information I needed when I called to make the reservation about a month in advance. The day of the move, I got a call from one of the guys asking if they could start early, as their other job finished ahead of scheduled. We agreed on a time, and true to their word, they arrived when they said they would. When they arrived, one of the guys went over some paperwork with me and asked him to walk them through my place showing them what would be going. After that, they got started. I was absolutely impressed by the speed at which they moved everything out. Once at the new place, they got started unloading. If a box wasn't clearly labeled, they asked where it should go. They re-assembled my bed with care and put the furniture where I asked. Not a single box was misplaced. Nothing was broken. Everything was in the same condition it was in before it left my former residence. Before they left, the guys even asked if I needed help shifting things around or if I wanted things moved anywhere. Truly great customer service! Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone at Best Movers of Washington DC Moving and Storage Company for making this a completely stress-free moving experience. I have already and will continue to enthusiastically recommend this moving company to friends and associates for their moving needs. I can't say enough about them and their service and will absolutely use them again next time I move!

I received excellent service from Best Movers of Washington DC Moving and Storage Company. Especially I would like to note on how helpful their office staff is. Each person I spoke with was informative and they always returned my calls on the promised time, even after my things were picked up from my home. I also received 1 month free storage and that was extremely helpful in my situation because it took me few weeks to find the right place to live and to sign the lease. The movers were wonderful as well I am just sorry that the crew that delivered was not the same crew that picked up and I did not give tip to the men that picked up as I was planning on giving it to them on the delivery after I made sure that all my furniture and boxes in place. This is certainly a company that I would recommend.

We have experienced some moves of its kind but this was far better from the others. The previous moving companies had some or the other problems but this one was the only company that actually did not come up with any problems. My first move was a horrible experience (the first moving company that i selected did not turn up on the final moving day. After that we went through several unwanted troubles before reaching the final destination).

The second move was another example of a devastating move ( initially it began well but the delivery was something impossible at any stretch of imagination. Most of my belongings were unwrapped and littered in the truck. Almost everything was damaged and my claims were never dealt seriously).

The next 2 moves were a mix and match of some horrible moves.

This particular move did not come up with more adventure. There was nothing extraordinary about it also. But at last experienced something right.
